RV Hitches & Couplers
The connection between your tow vehicle and whatever it's pulling is where the towing category gets specific. A fifth-wheel or gooseneck rig hitches in the bed; a travel trailer rides a ball mount and coupler off a receiver; a dinghy behind the motorhome uses a tow bar. Each setup has its own hardware, and the pages below break down what belongs where.

Finding the right towing connection for your rig
Everything in this section comes back to one question: how does your load attach to your vehicle? A bumper-pull travel trailer, a bed-mounted fifth wheel, a flat-towed Jeep, and a stack of bikes on the back all connect differently, and the hardware doesn't cross over. Start with your rig type and work down to the specific part.
- 5th-Wheel Hitches. Bed-mounted heads, rails, and capture plates for pulling a fifth-wheel trailer with a pickup.
- Goosenecks. Ball-in-the-bed hitches and rail kits for gooseneck trailers, plus adapters between the two systems.
- Weight-Distribution Hitches. Receiver hitches and spring-bar setups that level a loaded travel trailer and tame sway.
- Ball Mounts & Hitch Balls. The drop shanks and balls that connect a bumper-pull trailer to your receiver, sized by drop, shank, and capacity.
- Couplers & Locks. Hitch pins, coupler locks, and king-pin locks that keep everything latched and theft-proof.
- Tow Bars. Flat-tow gear for pulling a car behind a motorhome, including baseplates and wiring kits.
- Bike & Cargo Racks. Hitch and roof racks for bikes plus tie-downs and anchors for hauling gear.
If you're not sure which rig type you're dealing with, look at how the trailer or load meets the vehicle first, then pick the page that matches. Get the connection method right and the rest is picking sizes and ratings.
