Roof, Sealants & Coatings
Most RV roofs fail at the seams and penetrations long before the membrane itself wears out. A bead of sealant cracks around a vent, a screw head lifts, water tracks in behind the trim, and by the time it stains a ceiling panel it has usually been getting in for months. This section covers the full roof-care lineup: lap sealant for seams and penetrations, repair tape for fast leak stops, coatings and membranes to resurface or replace the deck, and the trim and mounting hardware that closes out the job.

Where to start with RV roof care
Almost every RV roof problem traces back to a failed seal at a seam or a penetration — a vent, a skylight, an antenna base. Twice a year you should be up top with a flashlight checking every bead of sealant for cracks and lifting edges. When you find one, the right fix depends on what failed and how bad it is, and that's how this section breaks down.
- Lap Sealants. The self-leveling and non-sag sealants that seal seams, vents, screw heads, and edge trim. This is your routine maintenance category — the caulk gun work that keeps water out year after year.
- Repair Tape. Peel-and-stick roof tape and foam cap tape for fast leak stops, seam sealing, and roadside patches when you don't have time to cure a bead of sealant.
- Roof Coatings & Membranes. Elastomeric and rubber-roof coatings that resurface an aging roof, plus full EPDM and PVC membrane rolls and adhesive when the old roof is past coating.
- Roof Hardware. Vinyl insert trim, vent installation kits, antenna mounts, and the threadlocker and putty tape that hold it all down and seal it up.
If you're chasing an active leak, start with sealants or tape. If the membrane itself is chalking, cracking, or going soft, you're into coatings and membranes. Either way, the trim and fasteners to button it back up are in roof hardware.
