Choosing a rooftop RV air conditioner
Two specs settle most of the choice: cooling capacity in BTU, and how the air reaches the cabin, ducted or non-ducted. Get those to match your rig and features like noise and efficiency fall into place.
- BTU and rig size. A 13,500 BTU unit like the Coleman-Mach Mach 3 Plus handles most vans and smaller trailers. Larger fifth wheels and motorhomes, or anyone camping in real heat, are better served by a 15,000 BTU unit like the Dometic Brisk II. Bigger is not always better when your power source is limited.
