WD Kits
A weight distribution hitch takes the tongue weight pressing down on your truck's rear axle and levers it forward and back across all the axles, so the rig rides level, the beams aim where they should, and the truck steers and brakes closer to how it does empty. The kits here run from Eaz-Lift's round-bar Elite systems up to Equal-i-zer and Fastway e2 setups with built-in 4-point sway control, plus the Reese Steadi-Flex. Nearly all are sold by weight rating, and that rating has to line up with your loaded trailer for any of it to work.

Sizing a weight distribution hitch
Tongue weight is the number that drives everything, generally 10 to 15 percent of your loaded trailer weight. A WD hitch carries a tongue-weight range and a gross trailer weight rating, and the spring bars have to fall in that window. Bars too stiff for a light trailer beat up the ride; bars too soft for a heavy one never transfer the load. Weigh the loaded rig on a scale if you can, then size from the real figure.
- Match the weight rating. These kits are rated by gross trailer weight and tongue weight: the Fastway e2 at 4,500 lb, the Equal-i-zer and Reese Steadi-Flex around 10,000 to 14,000 lb GTW with 1,000 lb tongue. Pick the range your loaded tongue weight lands in, not the trailer's dry number.
- Round bar vs. trunnion. The Eaz-Lift Elite runs round spring bars that hook underneath; the Fastway e2 and Equal-i-zer use trunnion bars seated in the sides of the head for more ground clearance and higher capacity. Trunnion is the usual pick on heavier trailers.
- Built-in sway control. The Equal-i-zer 4-point and Reese Steadi-Flex fold sway control into the head and brackets, so there's no separate friction bar to add and nothing to disconnect before you back up.
- Shank and ball, included or not. Read the fine print: the Fastway e2 kit ships without a ball, and some Equal-i-zer kits come with no shank. Confirm you're getting the drop or rise shank your receiver height needs and the ball size that fits your coupler.
- Spare and replacement parts. Spring bars and ball-mount kits wear out or change with a new trailer. Eaz-Lift sells replacement 1,000 lb round bars and round-bar ball mount kits, so you rebuild the hitch instead of replacing the whole thing.
A WD kit levels the load, but on a tall or wind-catching trailer add dedicated sway control if your hitch doesn't already include it. Round out the setup with the pins, mirrors, and safety-chain hardware in hitch accessories.
