Finding the right RV toilet repair part

The single most common failure is the seal at the bottom of the bowl drying out, so the bowl empties overnight and tank odor drifts up. After that it's the pedal mechanism and the seat. The key with any of these is matching the part to your exact toilet model — Thetford's Aqua-Magic Style II, IV, and V all use different pedals, seals, and seats, and they don't cross over.

• Flush ball and blade seals. The rubber seal that holds water in the bowl and blocks the tank. If the bowl won't hold water, this is almost always why — replace it before you consider a new toilet.
• Foot pedals and cables. A soft or stuck pedal usually means a worn pedal kit or a stretched foot-pedal cable. Both are sold as replacement parts here; match the pedal color and style (like the low-profile Style II) to your unit.
• Seat and cover assemblies. Cracked or stained seats swap out on their own — get the assembly for your model in the matching color (bone, parchment, white) so it lines up with the bowl.
• Mounting hardware and small parts. Closet bolt packages secure the toilet to the floor flange, and small bits like the Aqua Magic IV blade spring (part 33317) rebuild the flush mechanism instead of replacing it.

Before ordering, find your model number — it's usually on a label under the seat or behind the base — so the seal and pedal actually fit. If the bowl or base is cracked rather than just leaking, you're past a repair and into the RV toilets category, and rigs running a portable or cassette toilet use their own separate seals.
