Protecting RV tires from UV and weather

The clock on an RV tire runs whether or not you drive it. Sunlight and ozone break the rubber down over years, and it's sidewall cracking, not tread wear, that usually condemns a set. A cover that blocks UV through the months a rig sits is the cheapest way to reach the full service life of an expensive set of tires.

• Match the tire diameter. Covers size by tire diameter; the Camco covers here fit 24-inch and 34-inch tires, for example. Measure across your tire and pick the size that seats snug without stretching or sagging.
• UV-blocking vinyl. Weatherproof vinyl blocks sun, sheds rain, and lasts season after season, which is the entire point of a tire cover.
• A hem that holds. An elastic or drawstring hem keeps the cover on the tire when the wind picks up. One that blows off protects nothing.
