Wiring solar in without leaks or lost volts
Two spots decide whether a solar install ages well: the point where cables pass through the roof, and every connection they make on the way to the battery. The Go Power! and Xantrex parts here cover both, so you're not splicing bare wire or drilling a hole you can't seal.
- MC4 output cable. The Go Power! 10 AWG lead uses male-to-female MC4 ends, the standard weatherproof solar connector, so it mates straight to panels and extensions with no adapters and no exposed splices.
- Roof entry plate. The Go Power! plate carries MC4 leads through the roof on pre-installed waterproof glands. Bed it in a compatible roof sealant and the single hole you cut stays watertight.
- Cable gauge and distance. Thicker wire loses less voltage over a long run, which matters between a rooftop or ground-set panel and a battery bank at the far end of the coach. The Xantrex 708-0150 kit ships pre-sized solar and battery cable so you aren't guessing the gauge.
- Battery-side protection. A full kit includes the battery leads, not only the panel side. Fuse that connection close to the terminal; that's standard battery wiring practice, solar or not.
