Quick-disconnect fittings make it a lot easier to service or swap out a gas appliance without shutting down the whole line, and this coupler is built for exactly that. Threading in at 1/4" FPT on one side and a female quick disconnect on the other, it's most often used on RV cooking stove connections where you want a clean, tool-free disconnect point.
A useful add if you want to pull a stove or appliance for service without draining or capping the whole gas line.
