Longer supply runs between a tank and appliance call for a hose sized to handle it without kinking or restricting flow, and this 60-inch hose is built with a 3/8" ID for that purpose. It follows OEM-style dimensions, so it's meant to be a direct swap rather than something you'll need to adapt.
