RV Couplers & Locks
Small hardware keeps everything connected — and keeps thieves from walking off with your trailer. Hitch pins and clips hold a ball mount or accessory in the receiver, coupler and king-pin locks secure the trailer when it's parked, and anti-rattle pins take the play out of a loose receiver. What's here runs from simple Curt and Draw-Tite pins to Trimax locking anti-rattle pins, Ultra-Fab king-pin locks, and stainless Whitecap shackles and quick links.

Pinning and locking a trailer connection
Two jobs live here: holding the connection together while you tow, and locking it against theft when you park. A hitch pin does the first; a coupler or king-pin lock does the second. Anti-rattle hardware sits in between, tightening a sloppy fit so the receiver doesn't clunk down the road.
- Hitch pins and clips. These hold a ball mount or accessory in the receiver. Match the pin diameter to the receiver — 5/8" for a 2" receiver, 1/2" for a 1-1/4", often with an adapter sleeve. A swivel-latch pin is easier to seat and pull than a plain pin and clip.
- Anti-rattle pins. A locking anti-rattle pin like the Trimax pulls the play out of the ball mount so it doesn't rattle, and locks it in at the same time. It's the fix for that clunk you feel on bumps.
- Coupler and king-pin locks. A parked trailer with an exposed coupler or kingpin is easy to steal. A king-pin locking cup like the Ultra-Fab tripod covers the fifth-wheel kingpin, and coupler locks block the latch on a bumper-pull. Use them any time the trailer sits unhitched.
- Shackles and quick links. Stainless shackles and quick links, like the Whitecap pieces here, connect safety chains and cables. Match the size to the chain and check the working load, and stainless holds up outdoors without rusting.
Pins secure the ball mounts and drop shanks over on ball mounts and hitch balls, and a king-pin lock protects the hitch you set up on the 5th-wheel hitches page. Everything towing-related is under hitches and couplers.
