This Girard conversion door swaps a snap-in water heater cover for a hinged door with a sliding latch, so reaching the controls on a 6-gallon Atwood water heater doesn't mean prying at a stuck panel every time.
Converting a flush-mount Atwood 6-gallon unit to this door requires modifying the corners, since the kit itself doesn't cover them — if the water heater already uses a Suburban-style flush mount, no corner modification is needed. A trim ring is sold separately for a finished look.
